Today was an *almost* headache free day. Praise! I was able to put together these fun turkey themed lunches for my boys. I made a turkey shaped sunbutter and jam sandwich. I used Food Writers to add eyes, beaks, gobblers, feet, and feathers. Glorious, colorful feathers. I also packed cheddar sandwich crackers, dried cranberries, dates (Bigs), a Pfeffernusse cookie (Smalls), mandarin orange (Bigs), carrots (Smalls), green grapes, and raspberries (Bigs).
I am also the Co-op Parent in my Smalls’ class, so here is my lunch:
I packed salad with dressing, a Pfeffernusse cookie, dried cranberries, kiwi, mozzarella cheese, and green grapes.
I’m SOOOO excited for Thanksgiving! It’s my favorite holiday!
Today was my first kindergarten homeschool day! We had a great time working with the letter “N”. We also took a trip to the library, where my Bigs checked out books on snakes and komodo dragons (ewwwww!). I am so grateful for these precious homeschool days I get with my children!
Here is what I packed for Bigs’ Tuesday school lunch:
I made a ham, cheese (I use Applegate Naturals for both), and mayo sandwich on white wheat. I also packed Horizon Organic cheddar sandwich crackers, a teeny plum, cotton candy grapes, dried dates, and a semi-homemade pumpkin brownie [brownie mix, pumpkin spice, one can of pumpkin].
I feel like circuses have magic shows. Do they? Like, with a magician in a tux, pulling a rabbit out of a top hat?
I might be stretching it a little. I only have so many circus-themed cutters.
I made a magical bunny shaped PB&J and added details for his ears (very instrumental to his magic show), eye, ad nose. I also packed a few banana chips, a few TJ’s organic PB sandwich crackers, two dried dates, an aprium, colby jack cheese, a Tim Tam (thank you Australia!!!), and a homemade granola bar.
And for my Smalls:
I packed half a PB&J, trail mix, an aprium, TJ’s PB crackers, colby jack cheese, and a cotton candy Oreo. He’s got a granola bar for snack.
I made the granola bars for Teacher Appreciation Week a few weeks back. They were delicious!! I thought I’d make them again for my own family.
They were super easy to put together…
…and had ingredients I both had on hand and could pronounce.
AND they are easy to individually package and freeze!
A hint – if you are out of honey, as this recipe requires a LOT, you can use corn syrup as a sub. I don’t love using that, but I do keep it on hand for some recipes.
I should have made this lunch on Wednesday! Tomorrow’s lunch is a camel themed lunch.
I packed a camel shaped PB&J (I made him goldish with some food safe spray), some Trader Joe’s apple puffy things, assorted dried fruit (craisins, dates, ginger), a mandarin orange, and red grapes.
HUMP DAAAAYYY FRIDAY!!!
It’s transportation week, continued!
Bigs’ has PB&J motorcycle and boat sandwiches (I used my Food Writers to add a few details), two dates, a few raisins, oyster crackers, fruit salad (green grapes, strawberries, and raspberries), and one marshmallow for dessert.
Splish splash, vroom vroom.
Do you remember the Quad City DJ’s song? I could rap that all the way through with completely wrong lyrics, but it sure is a rad song. Brings me back. It’s probably a totally inappropriate song to connect to a kid lunch, but bruh, it’s classic.
Anywhooo, here is my kid’s train lunch for tomorrow (look at it and sing the song, like I am):
I made a train shaped PB&J sandwich and use some of the scraps for a track (they ate the rest). I also packed Goldfish crackers, a date, raspberries, a mandarin orange, a few green grapes, and one red velvet Oreo.
If you feel like dancing, well come on, it’s up to you
Tomorrow is our “Friday” for school. My boys will have Easter egg hunts and a little Easter party. They are so excited!
Here is Bigs’ lunch:
I packed a Peeps bunny shaped PB&J and used my Food Writers to add ear and eye details (and dang if I didn’t forget a nose). I know the OG Peeps bunnies don’t have ear color, but I thought it would help Biggie know what it is. I also packed pretzel sticks, dates, a mandarin orange, red grapes, a cherry chocolate cookie, and two little jelly beans. I used my Peeps cupcake wrappers and a bunny cupcake pick as decoration.
I packed half of a PB&J sandwich, pretzel sticks, red grapes, a cherry chocolate cookie, and one jelly bean. He gets no decorations because he cannot yet be trusted.
